A former two-sport standout at Orange Lutheran (Class of ’92), JP earned All-CIF honors in football and baseball before continuing his football career at Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Montana.

NICK HEINLE - VARSITY DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR
I am really Excited to be a part of Aztec Football and the Esperanza winning Tradition. I graduated from Fountain Valley in 1999 and in that time played many tough games against Esperanza in the old Sunset League. I graduated from Chapman University where I played football. This is my 15th year Coaching; 12 of these years as a Varsity Defensive Coordinator. I have been blessed to help lead the teams to 5 league titles, 2 CIF Championships at Canyon and Garden Grove High. I have coached in the North/South All-Star game twice and also as a player. Football has been my passion and now I am looking forward to experiencing it with son in the Program. I am a local business owner and currently live in Yorba Linda with my wife Michelle and my 3 Kids. Looking forward to the journey and grind of helping elevate the program to its full potential!

ANTHONY DRAFT - VARSITY OFFENSE / PASS GAME COORDINATOR
I grew up in Orange County on the Anaheim side of the 91 freeway, which gave me a wide circle of friends and connections across the Placentia–Yorba Linda area. I played quarterback in youth football with my brother—we won a championship our first year and made a deep playoff run the next. At Valencia High, we only lost five games in four years, went undefeated our freshman and senior seasons, and won a CIF championship.
I continued football and basketball at Fullerton College, starting as an X-receiver on the 1994 KISS Bowl championship team, and later captained undefeated All-Navy and squadron teams while serving in the U.S. Navy. It was there I met Gillian, the mother of our twin sons Dylan (QB) and Ethan (WR/FS), who now play at Fullerton College.
I’m grateful to my parents for instilling athletic ability, humility, and resilience, and to my brother for showing me what it means to dream big and execute—he’s a Stanford grad and 12-year NFL veteran. Aztec Nation, I’m bringing a winner’s mindset in life, not just football. Let’s go!
